All Saints’ was blessed last Wednesday to open our doors to our street parishioners for the annual Pranksgiving Dinner, which is a decades-old neighborhood meal put on by members of the community. Pranksgiving in the Park (with a nod to the Merry Pranksters from back in the day) had been held in the Panhandle, but weather, logistics, and concerns about permitting and park ranger patrols prompted the organizers at the last minute to ask if they could use our space this year. Of course! They supplied the food, drink, tableware, and servers. We supplied the space, tables, chairs, and hospitality. I’ve volunteered the past two years and am amazed and gratified how the community comes together to feed around 100 people, most of whom I know from my street ministry. Hosting this Thanksgiving-eve dinner fits right in with our mission and our history, and it reminded our parish hall of a long-delayed important purpose. Huzzah!
God’s blessings and peace,
Dan+
